| 797     1st or Western Regiment of Norfolk Regiment silver bracelet. A fine and rare example by CS FS bearing London 1882. One and a half inch hollow silver band, hinged, the front with applied silver eight pointed star; to the centre of the star, within a pierced strap inscribed First Norfolk, a Castle. Generally VGC. (£120 - £150) Raised 7th October 1758 at Norwich. Became 3rd Bn. Norfolk Regiment on Friday 1st July, 1881. |

| 800     Pair of Boer War patriotic bisque wear figures. A scarce pair of Boer War bisque figures, the first depicts a nurse wearing khaki uniform, with red cross armband to her sleeve. The second a soldier wearing foreign service uniform, with sun helmet to his head. His chest is bared to reveal a bullet hole with a small trace of blood. This figure represents the English soldier who was shot through the heart and survived. The condition is good, although the figure of the soldier has a sizeable chip to the back of the base. The cup is decorated with colourful transfers depicting Nelson within a strap Admiral Lord Nelson Britain's Naval Hero which is set in an acorn wreath surmounted by a Nautical Crown, Union Flag and Red Ensign. The second panel depicts Britannia upon her chariot be pulled across the waves by three white horses Britannia Rules the Waves. The final panel depicts the Flagship Victory lying alongside a Dreadnought Battleship. Each arm is decorated with a fouled anchor and to the interior can be found Nelsons famous signal England Expects..... The under stamp is that of the Copeland factory. Colours remain bright Near VGC. | 826     87th Prince of Wales's Own Irish Fusiliers meat plate circa 1827. A most attractive and scarce large white china example with wide border lavishly ornamented with Union wreath with prominent roses and with Prince of Waless plumes at the top. To the centre, resting in a shamrock demi-wreath, a flaming grenade bearing eagle on a tablet inscribed 8. Below the shamrock, a Maid of Erin Harp. The plate has no back mark and has been broken in two pieces, professionally restored to a good standard (£200 - £300) Raised 18th September 1793 as 87th (The Prince of Waless Irish) Regiment of Foot; redesignated 87th (The Prince of Waless Own Irish) Regiment of Foot in 1811 (in recognition of their glorious conduct at Barossa); 23rd July 1827 redesignated 87th (The Prince of Waless Own Irish Fusiliers). The Eagle and tablet inscribed "8" represents the Eagle on the flagstaff of the 8th French Light Infantry captured by the 87th Fusiliers at Barossa on 5th March 1811 by Sergeant Patrick Masterson. This was the first Eagle taken in the Peninsular War. |
| 827     Souvenir of the Shanghai Bombardment 1937. Comprising: Five artillery shell fragments, four of good size. Now mounted into a deep mahogany glazed frame. A silvered plaque is engraved Fragments of the shells which hit our Shanghai Premises in the bombardment of the Bund on 30th October 1937. During the sino-Japanese Hostilities. The reverse of the frame retains an original Shanghai Municipal Police Property label stating that the shells were found on the roof of the Charted Bank of India and is dated November 1st 1937. | 828     Shanghai Municipal Police presentation silver cigarette box. A very fine and rare cedar lined example of rectangular form, the base marked Luang Senc Silver. The lid mounted with cap badge viz. silver eight pointed star mounted with strap inscribed Shanghai Municipal Police; central enamelled medallion bearing the motto Omnia juncta in uno and with the flags of the nations represented in this International Settlement set on a white enamel ground. The lid also bears approx. 20 facsimile signatures. The inside of the lid bears a rectangular silver plate engraved Presented to R.G. MacDonald Esq., Deputy Commissioner of Police Specials by the Officers of the Shanghai Municipal Police as a token of their esteem on the occasion of his resignation from the force on ARBERY 22nd 1942.. | 839     SS Kinfauns Castle 1903 ornate silver spoon. An attractive example by JRG&S (JR Gaunt and Sons) bearing 1903 Birmingham hallmarks. Shank formed as ropework with reef knot to centre; the top being crossed enamelled flags resting on blue enamel scroll inscribed SS Kinfauns Castle. VGC (approx 125 mm) (£40 - £60) Union Castle Line ship built in 1899 by Fairfield Shipbuilding & Engineering Co. at Glasgow, the first company ship with twin screws, for the mail run to South Africa. On 4th August 1914 she was requisitioned by the Admiralty and converted into an Armed Merchant Cruiser. She took part in numerous actions and captured several enemy ships. From 1916 she was used as a troopship. After the war she resumed the mail run to South Africa. |
| 840     Bedfordshire Regiment cased set of Colour Party bayonet covers. A very fine and scarce set of three silver plated examples. Each terminating in ball finial and impressed with 2nd Battalion Crowned 16th Foot device; each with finely machined screw fitting to secure the tip to the bayonet. Reverse of one inscribed Presented by Major W.W. Wagstaff, Oct. 1926. Housed in their gilt tooled blue leather fitted case, blue velvet lined, the padded cream silk lining to the lid bearing Crown logo of Carrington & Co. Ltd., 130, Regent Street,W. | 841     HMS Herald Georgian silver fork. A fine and scarce eight inch fiddle pattern example by RP bearing London hallmarks for 1824. The stem impressed H.M.S. Herald GR. The reverse of the handle end engraved with Royal Crest. GC (£50 - £75) Originally launched on 15th November 1822 as HMS Termagant, a 6th rate 28 gun ship of the line. In 1824 this wooden sailing ship was renamed HMS Herald and embarked on a career of survey. Under Captain Henry Kellet, she stood off the American coast during the Oregon boundary dispute and assisted in resolving the matter. In 1852 she weighed anchor for Australia under the command of Captain Henry Mangles Denham. This was an important voyage and she mapped much of the Australian coast and various islands. Part of her brief was to acquire natural history specimens which was diligently executed resulting in many significant additions to important British collections. In 1861, after nearly a decade of surveying the South West Pacific, she set sail for home. Having faithfully served her country for 40 years, she was sold off in 1862. |
| 842     A rare and emotive Falklands VC Parachute Regiment Souvenir. Comprising the Regimental lanyard worn by Sergeant Ian Mckay VC. The lanyard is accompanied by a letter from his widow dated 2nd November 1982 stating that her husband had worn it for 2 years at the Para Depot, until he sailed for the Falklands with 3 Para. Bears large colourful transfer of Royal Arms, Regimental badge device, title scrolls and Battle Honours of the Regiment . The last being France & Flanders 1914-1918. | 844     Victorian Collectors Cabinet Chiffonier of Mr Hugh King. A good late Victorian mahogany example which housed a small part of the famous collection. The cabinet with two flame mahogany panel doors that when opened reveal two rows of 12 drawers, these deep enough to accommodate shako and helmet plates. Each drawer retains a turned ebonized knob. The cabinet is raised on a plinth base and the top is edged with a plain moulding. Height 38 inches, Width 36 inches Depth 10 inches. The mahogany retains a rich colour, the overall condition is good, but the cabinet would benefit from basic restoration, one small section of veneer absent etc. (£200 - £400) This cabinet was housed in the study of the late Mr Hugh King co-author of the publication Head-Dress of the British Army. An excellent William IV example from the Vice Lieutenant of the county, the Marquess of Chandos, appointing Sir William Laurence Young, Baronet as Major of the Militia and to raise a militia force within the County of Buckinghamshire.
