400     Hyderabad Contingent Lancers Victorian Officer’s pouch.
A fine and scarce late 19th century example. The silver plated flap is edged with deep palm leaf engraving. Mounted to the centre, gilt Crowned HCL cypher superimposed on a brace of crossed lances; the box is of black grained leather with two gold bullion lines and is complete with both floriated ends and plain belt loops. Minor service wear, fixing tongue and stud AF. GC (£150 - £200)
401     53rd Bengal Native Infantry 1830 pattern Officer’s shoulder scales.
A good scarce pair. Each comprising a dark blue melton scale bearing a large rich fire gilt crescent and edged with three quarter inch gold lace and retains gilt regimental button (“53” within strap “Regiment” resting in wreath). Lace dull, cloth melton lining absent to reverse of one, within one crescent a section of cloth replaced, (£100 - £120)
402     Victorian Officer’s working undress sabretache.
A good scarce black patent leather example, the face never having been mounted with any device. Complete with pocket, and with three D shaped suspension rings. Patent with usual congealing some minor age wear GC (£50 - £75)
403     Victorian Cavalry Yeomanry Saddle Cloth.
Black lambs wool with a scarlet material edging. Remains in good clean condition. Length 31 inches. (£80 - £120)
404     19th Century Cavalry Officer’s barrel sash.
A rare example, with six lines of crimson flash cord. Each line is with three gold bullion woven sections. Terminating with bullion acorn devices. Minor age wear GC. Clean condition. (£100 - £120)
405     Mid Victorian Officer’s Crimson Waist Sash
A rare example of crimson sash with large cord tassels. Length of centre section is 86 inches, width 1 1/2 inches. Tassel length 10 inches. Remains fresh Near VGC (£80 - £120)
406     Mid Victorian Officer’s Crimson Waist / Shoulder Sash
A rare example of crimson sash. Length of 108 inches, with short cord tassel ends, Total width unfolded 12 inches. Remains fresh with a little storage wear Near VGC (£60 - £100)
407     Royal Artillery Victorian Officer’s dress pouch and pouch belt.
A gold lace belt with ornate gilt buckle, tip and slide together with a pouch of dark blue melton cloth, the face edged with gold lace of regimental pattern. To the centre, heavily gold embroidered Royal Arms and “Ubique” scroll within a wreath of oak leaves and acorns; an applied gilt metal gun to the base of the wreath which rests on a padded tri-part crimson velvet cushion scroll inscribed “Quo fas et gloria ducunt”. Reverse complete with collapsable wallet, gilt floriated ends and plain belt loops. Bullion toned, moth hole to lower edge of pouch, some stitching faults. (£150 - £250)
408     Berkshire Yeomanry Officer’s undress sabretache.
A good example from the latter half of the 19th century example. Black patent leather face mounted with gilt device of a circlet “The Borough of Hungerford” within an oak wreath; five pointed star and crescent from the Seal of the Borough of Hungerford to centre; a separate Crown above the wreath. Complete with pocket and three D shaped suspension rings to accommodate slings. Gilt bright, securing tongue detached but present, usual crazing to leather. GC (£200 - £300)

409     Badge, cap and effects of a Trooper in 27th Bn. Imperial Yeomanry.
General pattern IY rosette bearing Prince of Wales’s plumes over IY ... bullion on scarlet farrier’s horseshoe badge ... khaki detachable shoulder strap with two part brass IY title ... scarlet field service cap with purple curtain topped with silver Russia braid and secured by two general service buttons ... pair of shoulder chains (rusty in parts) ... small white canvas kit bag stencilled “37953 J.S. Steadman 123 Coy, 27 Batn. I.Y.” ... two home-made wooden button sticks ... khaki “housewife” with ink name and stencilled “ 27 37953 IY” still with two needles enclosed ... small canvas roll bearing similar numbers and his name. Generally all GC. (£250 - £300)
John Samuel Steadman appears in the 1901 census as a joiner aged 21 from Watermillock, near Ullswater in the Lake District and was a member of the Westmoreland & Cumberland Yeomanry. He served in South Africa as Trooper 37953 with 123 Company, 27th Bn. Imperial Yeomanry, part of 4th Contingent. Roll states awarded Queen’s South Africa Medal with clasps “Cape Colony” and “South Africa 1902”.
410     Royal Air Force Pipe Band Sporran.
A most unusual example attributed to an RAF Squadron pipe band. Brass mantle mounted to the centre with a King’s Crown RAF Cap badge and to each side engraved thistle decoration. The body is of white goat’s hair with two black tassels emanating from brass bells. Leather backing and pocket to the reverse. Complete with white buff leather strap. GC. (£100 - £200)
411     Queen’s Own Oxfordshire Hussars 1830 pattern shoulder scales.
A scarce set of gilt metal shoulder scales with plain crescent and blue cloth backing to the underside. Complete with Gilt Regimental buttons. One scale plate loose but present. Little age wear GC. (£40 - £60)
412     46th Foot (South Devonshire) pre 1881 OR’s waist belt clasp.
A scarce brass example. Circlet inscribed “South Devonshire Regiment”; centre bearing “46” on lined ground. Plain ends. Attached to a brown leather belt. Heavy service wear, with circlet’s left side worn thin from constant use. (£30 - £50)
413     Japanese WW2 period NCO’s pattern map case.
Polished brown leather, of smaller size, with provision for pencils. The flap is with a stitched Imperial Star device. GC with minor service wear, complete with leather straps and buckles. (£30 - £40)
414     14th (The King’s) Hussars 1886 Officer’s silver pouch.
A fine example by B & P (Bent & Parker) bearing Birmingham hallmarks. The silver flap is mounted with a gilt metal crowned VR cypher, reversed and interlaced; the cypher mounted with gilt metal Prussian Eagle. The edge of the flap is with deep engraved floral decoration; the box is of black leather with two gold bullion lines and is complete with both floriated ends and hallmarked silver belt loops. Minor service wear. GC (£300 - £400)
Granted the Prussian Eagle and title “Duchess of York’s Own” in 1798 whilst 14th Light Dragoons. In 1830, on William’s accession, the title changed to The 14th (The King’s) Light Dragoons. The Regiment converted to Hussars in 1861

418     Mid 19th Century Artillery Volunteers Officer’s pouch
A scarce and good example. This large pouch with dark blue melton cloth backing to the flap. Edged with silver lace, to the centre a silver bullion embroidered wreath of half laurel and oak leaves, surmounted by a Crown encircle three silvered field guns. The pouch retains leather pocket and belt rings. Complete with leather cover. Remains in good fresh condition. (£120 - £150)
419     Bengal Artillery 1830 pattern undress shoulder scales
A scarce gilt pair. Within the crescent of each, an applied silvered crowned strap inscribed “Bengal” with three guns to centre; one retains regimental button. Dark blue melton cloth backing, each with four small securing loops to reverse. Some wear to gilt. GC (£200 - £300)
The Bengal Artillery were granted the title Royal in 1858.
420     Medical Staff Corps Field Officer’s 1830 pattern epaulettes.
A fine and rare pair of the box pattern epaulettes worn by a Lieutenant Colonel. The bullion strap mounted with a large bullion crown. Within the fire gilt crescent a padded cushion embroidered with VR cypher. The crescent supports fine twist wire tassels. The underside is of padded crimson silk, with tie fittings for attachment to the coatee. Bullion remains very bright and fresh. Housed in a metal storage tin. (£300 - £400)
421     Army Veterinary Corps Edwardian Officer’s pouch belt and pouch.
A good scarce example. The ground of the flap of maroon cloth, with gold bullion embroidered Crowned EVIIR Cypher within an oak leaf and acorn wreath. The flap is edged with regimental gold lace with central maroon line. Complete with pouch belt of regimental bullion lace fitted with an ornate gilt metal buckle and slide, the tip bearing an entwined Crowned EVIIR Cypher. The pouch remains in good clean condition. Bullion and gilt fresh. (£100 - £120)
422     12th Royal Lancers Victorian Officer’s silver pouch and belt.
A scarce example. The belt is of gold lace of regimental pattern, with scarlet silk line. Mounted with silver hallmarked buckle, tip and slide. A silver Garter Star boss supports prickers and chains (Birmingham 1892) ... The pouch with silver flap (London 1883); the edge of the flap is with deep engraved decoration of regimental pattern; the box is of crimson leather with two gold bullion lines and is complete with both floriated ends and silver hallmarked belt loops. Overall GC with a little service wear. (£250 - £350)
423     Royal Artillery binocular case, pouch and 1846-55 OR’s “Albert” shako plate.
Black patent leather binocular case, the face bearing gilt gun with mounted wheel. Leather hinge broken; gilt worn ... black patent leather pouch, the face bearing gilt gun with mounted wheel. GC ... die-stamped brass excavated shako plate of star pattern bearing Royal Arms with scroll “Ubique” beneath; below, a gun resting on a scroll “Quo fas et gloria ducunt”. Fixings and some star tips absent, several fractures and generally in relic condition. (3 items) (£40 - £60)
424     Royal Gloucestershire Hussars Victorian Officer’s Shabraque.
A rare example of scarlet cloth, edged with lace of regimental pattern. Each quarter is decorated with a gold bullion regimental device, the hind quarters with the addition of the a padded blue velvet scroll bearing the title ‘Royal Gloucestershire Hussars”. The overall condition is good, with some dulling to the scarlet and bullion. A few moth holes. (£600 - £800)
425     Westmoreland & Cumberland Yeomanry Cavalry Victorian Shabraque.
A rare example of dark blue cloth, edged with band of white cotton, with scarlet backing. The hind quarters are decorated with a coloured cotton regimental device of a Crowned WCYC. With age wear and moth damage to the cloth. The embroidered devices remain fresh (£300 - £500)
426     Montgomery Rifle Volunteers Victorian Officer’s Pouch.
The pouch is of black patent leather, mounted to the flap a silvered Welsh Dragon device. Complete with silvered loops GC. (£40 - £60)
427     7th (Queen’s Own) Hussars Victorian Officer’s pouch and belt.
A very fine example, the red cloth face with bullion decoration to the edge, Crowned QO Cypher to centre; red Morocco lined collapsible pouch, plain shaped belt loops. Complete with red cloth lined gold lace pouch belt bearing ornate gilt buckle, plain slide and Crowned tip with “QO” to centre. Minor service wear, near VGC. (£200 - £300)
428     No. 1 Company, Coldstream Guards Company colour.
A very fine and scarce silk example being a Union flag embroidered with a Crown; upon a mound a Lion, sejant, guardant, his tail passed between his legs and reflexed over his back, argent and scroll with “I” below. VGC (£300 - £400)
The Lion is a badge of Edward IV, granted to the regiment by William III in 1696.
429     Indian Army Officer’s silver mounted pouch belt and a waist belt.
A good scarce maroon Morocco lined gold lace example with central crimson silk line. Silver buckle, tip and slide by J & Co (Jennens) bearing 1887 Birmingham hallmarks, whistle and holder with 1900 hallmarks. Plate of Crowned wreath, half laurel, half palm, with “PLC” cypher to centre. Three strand chain from the plate to the whistle. GC ... companion waist belt of matching lace bearing gilt rectangular clasp mounted with silver crowned oak wreath with GRI to centre. GC (2 items) (£250 - £400)
