He shown 3/4 length wearing full dress uniform and on a table beside him can be seen his shako, with feather plume. Mounted into a contemporary gilt and gesso glazed frame. GC. Overall size 11 1/2 x 14 inches. (£100 - £150) Thomas John Kearney joined the 15th Hussars in 1847. In 1857 he was serving as Quartermaster General to the China Expedition and was Killed by a 32 pounder cannon shot aboard Commodore Keppel's ship at Fatshan Creek on the 1st June 1857.
