To celebrate the 150th Anniversary of The Ayrshire Yeomanry a very brief Regimental History was compiled for the Visit by His Majesty King George VI and other senior Officers. This lot comprising of two of these histories. The first bearing an ink signature of “George R.I” (Very clear). The other signed by all the senior Officers including Field Marshal Ironside ... 743     City of London Imperial Yeomanry Watercolour by P.W. Reynolds.
This watercolour is dated 1902 and depicts three members of the Regiment, wearing the light blue tunic with purple facings. Two of the men wear slouch hats. Clear signature, colour and detail is good. Now in card mount. Overall size 14 x 17 inches (£80 - £120)
744     3rd Madras Light Cavalry Georgian Watercolour.
This full length portrait depicts an Officer of the Regiment wearing full dress light blue uniform with silver lace and box pattern epaulettes. He sports a black japanned helmet with scarlet plume and his g GIIR sabretache is clearly visible. Colours remain good. Mounted into a gilt gesso frame GC. Overall size 14 x 11 1/2 inches. 745     15th Hussars Mid 19th Century Watercolour.
This full length portrait is believed to be Major Thomas John Kearney. He shown 3/4 length wearing full dress uniform and on a table beside him can be seen his shako, with feather plume. Mounted into a contemporary gilt and gesso glazed frame. GC. Overall size 11 1/2 x 14 inches. (£100 - £150)
Thomas John Kearney joined the 15th Hussars in 1847. In 1857 he was serving as Quartermaster General to the China Expedition and was Killed by a 32 pounder cannon shot aboard Commodore Keppel's ship at Fatshan Creek on the 1st June 1857. He came from Cheltenham

This well executed painting depicts men of the Volunteers on field exercise. In the foreground men aim and fire, while in the background a second Company of men approach at the quick march. Detail to the uniform is good, Atholl grey uniforms, with blue shakos Signed “RCD”. Mounted into a card mount. Overall size 20 x 15 inches. (£50 - £100)
747     Oxfordshire University Rifles 19th Century Watercolour.
This well executed painting depicts men of the Volunteers on field exercise. The unit is shown in line, the front row kneels and the rear stands, rifles at the ready, bayonets fixed. Behind them are three mounted Officers, one with sword drawn about to give the order to fire. Detail to the uniform is good, Atholl grey uniforms, with blue shakos This example is unsigned, but in the manner of the previous lot, which is signed “RCD”. Mounted into a card mount. An Officer of the Pembroke Yeomanry in hussar pattern uniform with busby. Officer of the East Yorkshire Yeomanry wearing lancer pattern with peaked forage cap. Colours remain fresh. This well executed watercolour depicts a mounted Officer wearing full dress uniform of an Eton style tunic and sporting a busby. He is flanked by a Trooper wearing undress scarlet shell jacket and an Officer, again in undress scarlet shell jacket and pill box cap. Signed. Colour and detail remain good and fresh. This watercolour is in the manner of Frank W. Scott and is titled “Red Line Oppy 1918”.
