1010     Scottish military pipers dirk. A good late 19th century example. The blade lightly etched both sides with thistle decoration; one side stamped 00 the other with WD crows foot, Crown over B over 3 with X below. The hilt with a carved bog wood grip of an interlaced design ornamented with nickel studs; plain pommel, the flat top bearing Victorian Crown in relief. Housed in its black leather sheath with thistle embossed nickel mounts. Service wear. (£100 - £150) |
| 1011     19th Century Continental Light Cavalry Sword. Similar to the 1822 French pattern. Single edged piped back blade, the hilt with a three brass bar open guard and leather grip. Housed in metal scabbard, fitted with two loose rings. Overall age wear, both scabbard and hilt black colour. (£100 - £200) |
| 1012     Elizabeth II Infantry Pattern Officers Sword. This example is in parade condition having been professionally refurbished. No etching to the blade remains. Complete with polished brown leather lining to the guard, leather sword knot and housed in polished brown leather scabbard. (£120 - £150) |
| 1013     1821 Officers Light Cavalry Sword. This is an unusual example, possibly worn by an Indian Cavalry Officer. The single edged curved blade is decorated with a blue and gilt panel decorated with trophies of arms and flora (10% blue & gilt present). The hilt is of the 1821 pattern, but of polished brass, with a leather grip. Housed in a brass scabbard fitted with two loose rings. GC. (£300 - £400) |
| 1014     1st VB Royal West Kent Regiment Cyclist Section Edwardian Presentation Sword. A very fine example of Artillery pattern with three bar open guard and shagreen grip. The obverse of the blade bears an EVIIR Cypher and the following inscription <I>Presented by the members of the Cyclist Company (1 and 2 Sections) and the Sergeants of A.B. and F. Companies of the 1st V.B. The Queens Own Royal West Kent Regt) March 14th 1905</I>. The reverse of the blade again with a Royal Cypher and 3/4 length floral decoration. Housed in its metal scabbard. VGC (£700 - £800) HQ at Tunbridge. Cyclist Company was added to the 1st VB in 1900. |

| 1017     1912 pattern EIIR Cavalry Officers sword by Wilkinson. A scarce post 1953 example by Wilkinson Sword of London. The blade, numbered 51492, is etched with a Crowned EIIR Cypher and scrolling foliage decoration. The hilt is of the regulation pattern, with simulated shagreen grip with twist wire binding. Housed in polished steel scabbard. Remains in very clean condition and with a little attention could be returned to parade condition. (£250 - £300) |
| 1018     1851 Warwickshire Yeomanry Cavalry Prize Sword. An example of the 1821 Light Cavalry pattern. The slightly curved blade with etched decoration incorporating a Crowned reverse entwined VR Cypher and a presentation inscription Presented by Cornet The Right Honble Lord Leigh to Mr Thos Bryan 6 Troop WYC for his proficiency in sword exercise Oct 1st 1851. The hilt with a three bar open guard and shagreen grip. Housed in polished steel scabbard fitted with two loose rings. GC Slight age wear, etching clear. The hilt with gilt guard, incorporating a silvered flaming grenade. The shagreen grip with twist wire binding. Housed in black leather and gilt metal mounted scabbard. GC A little age wear, GC. | 1021     1803 Light Company Officers Sword. A good example with single edged curved blade, this with half length blue and gilt decoration (30%). Engraved with Crowned GR Cypher. The fire gilt bar guard incorporating a crowned GR cypher and a Light Company bugle. Shagreen grip retains copper twist wire binding. Accompanied by a replacement leather and gilt mounted scabbard. Leather now shrunk and will not accommodate the blade fully. Gilt remains fresh, blade with some staining a surface pitting. GC (£400 - £600) |
| 1022     xx Coldstream Guards William IV Period Officers Sword A rare example of the 1822 pattern sword with single-edged slightly curved piped back blade decorated with WIVR crowned cypher and a Garter Star. Also the retailers details of Prosser of London. Gilt metal folding hilt with crowned WIVR cypher, shagreen grip and copper twist wire binding. Housed in a brass scabbard, with two loose rings. The hilt retains a large amount of the original gilt finish. Scabbard dulled. Blade clean |
| 1023     1822 pattern sword for General and Staff Officers. This is a scarce attributed example carried by Colonel Quentin Graham Kinnaird Agnew DSO MVO Royal Body Guard. The single edged slightly curved blade bearing etched decoration of a crowned VR cypher and floral decoration; on the reverse is a General Officers device. Also the sword cutlers details of Wilkinson, London with the blade number 26080. Gilt brass three bar open guard with General Officers device. Shagreen grip with twist wire binding. Housed in a replacement polished steel scabbard with two loose rings. The blade is with overall patina. GC. (£175 - £225) The Wilkinson blade number indicates that the sword was purchased on the 30th October 1884 by Capt Agnew ADC. Colonel Quentin Graham Kinnaird Agnew DSO MVO military career began when he was commissioned into the Royal Scots Fusiliers. He served as Transport Officer and ADC to the GOC during the Burmese campaign of 1885-6. During service in India he was paired with Robert Baden-Powell later Major General and founder of the Boy Scout movement in a daring operation which became known as the Simla Hoax, disguised as a reporter and an Italian Count they gathered information for the impending Afghan War. He would see service during the Tirah Campaign and would serve in the Boer War being awarded the DSO in 1902 and gaining the QSA with six clasps. During the Great War he saw active service not only on the Western Front, but at Gallipoli and the Middle East. Following his retirement from the army he was appointed a Gentleman at Arms The Royal Body Guard. |
