NR 17906 and a large N. Black painted finish. Complete with bakerlite cover to the eye pieces. and leather strap. The binoculars appear in good condition, lenses may require cleaning. Vendor states this item was liberated by his father, Major David Sheret Buchanan RAMC during the advance from Normandy to Germany 1944-45. He was born in 1905; joined RAMC in 1942 and was part of the 15th Scottish Division. He participated in the Normandy Landings and accompanied the allied forces through to Germany. By April 1945 he was responsible for health & hygiene at Belsen Concentration Camp. He was mentioned in despatches twice. |

| 1083     WW2 German British Internee Prison Camp Armband. Rare examples worn by Mr Alexander Redpath Mollison, who had served as a Lieutenant with the RNVR during the Great War. He lived in France after the war and in 1940 was interned by the Germans. Comprising: Three white cotton examples each with heavy ink stamps RI Z1 1296. One with the addition of a German Army stamp. The beaten silvered body embossed with Iron Cross on one side and fighting eagles on the other; oak leaf band to base with inscription Für besondere leistung im Luftkrieg. Engraved beneath the oak leaf band Hauptmann Heinrich Setz am 20. 10. 41.. VGC (£2,500 - £3,000) Born 12.03.1915; Serving in Jagdeschwadr 77 (Ace of Hearts) his first kill was a Blenheim 27.08.40 followed by a Skua 09.09.40 and another Blenheim 20.10.40. On the Eastern front he achieved 132 Russian kills. Awarded Knights Cross 31.12.41 and awarded Oakleaves 23.06.42. Promoted Major, he commanded Jagdeschwadr from 27 12.11.42 until he was shot down and killed 13.03.43 over France by a Spitfire flown by Flying Officer Michal Hajbicz, 315 Squadron (tenth Polish squadron formed in England). |
