A scarce example of dark blue melton body with black lace cap band of oakleaf and acorn design bearing bullion regimental badge, the welt of the crown with gold cord piping, indicating Field Rank. Patent leather peak with one row of gold braid. The crown is with ornate Russian lace and mohair cord button. Crimson silk lining embossed with gold makers device of Poole & Co London. Complete with a leather sweatband. Contained in a metal storage tin. Bullion remains bright. GC. (£250 - £300) |
| 921     Derbyshire Regiment Victorian VB Officers forage cap. A scarce late 19th century example. Dark blue melton cloth, with black patent leather peak edged with a silver bullion band. The body of the cap retains lace band of oak leaf and acorns and is mounted with a Regimental badge of a silvered Maltese cross surmounted by a Victorian Crown, Mounted to the centre, an oak wreath bearing scrolls inscribed Sherwood Foresters with Derbyshire below the wreath. To the centre, a silver Stag set on blue enamel ground. To the crown of the cap mohair cord loops and pearl button. The interior retains leather sweatband and crimson quilted silk lining. The interior with leather sweatband and a full scarlet leather lining, gilt tooled with the tailors details of Cater & Co London. | 923     1st VB Highland Light Infantry Officers Victorian Forage Cap. A scarce example of dark green melton cloth, with diced band of Regimental pattern, red-white-red and red-green-red. To the front a Regimental Cap badge and the black leather peak with a row of silver bullion. To the crown mohair lace and a pearl button, with scarlet piping to the welt of the crown. The interior with leather sweatband and quilted cotton lining. Faint name to the sweatband Capt T.E. Price Striche H.L.I. The overall condition is good, with a little age wear. | 924     WW2 English made Polish Army Officers cap. A good example tailored by Lock & Co of London. The mortar board crown with silver lace which also edges the dark green velvet cap band indicating Artillery this mounted with two rank stars Lieutenant. Black peak with metal trim. Retaining chinstrap and cap badge. The interior with leather sweatband and tailors details. Remains in good clean condition, but now slightly misshapen. (£80 - £120) |
| 925     Hertfordshire Yeomanry 1869-1880 Officers spiked helmet. A rare example of the metal pattern helmet introduced to the Regiment in 1869. Silvered skull mounted with gilt acanthus leaf decoration. To the front, a gilt Crowned shield mounted with a silvered Hart. Two rose head bosses support an interlinked leather backed chin chain. The crown with a gilt fluted spike. The interior retains original quilted silk lining. Slight age wear to the lining, a good clean example. Contained in a period metal storage tin with later painted name J. Bishop Esq Herts Yeo. (2 items) (£1,000 - £1,500) The helmet was introduced to the Regiment in about 1869. Originally worn with the spike until 1880 when it was superseded by a horsehair plume. |

| 927     Calcutta Scottish Officers glengarry, titles and buttons. A scarce black woollen example with green and white diced band and blue toorie. Complete with unmarked silver badge comprising a crowned saltire bearing Arms of Calcutta, resting on a thistle spray with bi-part scroll inscribed Calcutta Scottish. Arms crooked, silk glengarry tails absent, several moth holes ... together with three cast CALCUTTA / SCOTTISH shoulder titles (silvered, white metal and brass) ... two silvered buttons by Phelps & Co, Calcutta ... silvered collar badge. (£80 - £120) Formed as Calcutta Scottish Volunteers on 1st August 1911 becoming 44th Calcutta Scottish on 1st April 1917 and Calcutta Scottish 14th October 1920. |
| 928     5th Royal Irish Lancers Officers field service cap circa 1901-22. A good rare example by Hawkes & Co., 1 Savile Row, of dark melton cloth with scarlet crown and piped with gold wire around the crown and curtain, the latter secured by two regimental buttons. The left side with bullion 5 superimposed on crossed lances with red and white silk pennons. Quilted silk lining. A little service wear, bullion now dull. GC (£75 - £100) Amalgamated with 16th Queens Lancers in 1922. |

| 931     1st Shropshire Rifle Volunteers Officers Home Service Pattern helmet A rare example of an Officer's Home Service green cloth helmet, complete with silvered metal cross piece, spike and rose bosses supporting a velvet backed chin chain. To the front, a Silvered eight pointed star, the topmost point displaced by a Crown; mounted on the star, within a laurel wreath, a strap inscribed 1st Shropshire Rifle Volunteers. To the centre, a shield charged with three leopards masks or loggerheads set on a silvered ground. The interior with a full quilted cream silk lining, leather sweatband, topped with cream silk. | 932     Herefordshire Regiment Officers home service helmet. A good post 1901 example, complete with gilt metal cross piece, spike and rose head bosses which secure the leather backed chin chain. To the front, a gilt metal post 1901 regimental helmet plate, mounted with a tri-part scroll inscribed The Herefordshire Regt. Retains leather sweatband, with crimson silk edging. Gilt worn to base brass, device to centre of plate slightly loose. GC (£400 - £600) |
| 933     Montgomeryshire Imperial Yeomanry ORs helmet. A good, scarce example, modelled on the 1871 pattern helmet. Nickel skull mounted with an eight pointed backing star; the strap inscribed Montgomeryshire Yeomanry Cavalry; Welsh dragon to centre. Two rose head pattern bosses support the interlinked chin chain, with later backing. The crown bears a spike that supports the white horsehair plume. The interior retains leather lining. Minor wear, number of small dents to skull , leather dry. GC (£400 - £600) This pattern was introduced to the regiment in 1882, the white horsehair plume followed 1896. |
| 934     1st (Royal) Dragoon Troopers 1871 pattern helmet. A good example. Nickel skull decorated with brass laurel leaves; to the front a helmet plate of brass backing star with silvered strap and brass 1 to the centre. Brass spike supports a white horsehair plume with rose boss. To each side are rose head bosses which support a brass leather-backed chin chain. Leather lining to the interior, present but dry. With minor service wear and dents otherwise. GC (£400 - £600) |
| 935     Royal Horse Guards Victorian Officers helmet The skull of German silver decorated with gilt brass laurel and oak leaf design. Gilt rose pattern ear bosses support a gilt brass blue velvet backed chin chain. To front, helmet plate of half laurel/half oak leaf wreath surrounding the collar of the Order of the Garter and surmounted by a Pre 1901 Crown. Mounted to centre is a cut silver star of the Order of the Garter. The gilt pierced Garter is set onto blue enamelled ground, to the centre, the Cross of St. George in red enamel. To top of the helmet a gilt acanthus leaf holder supports the scarlet plume. Complete with leather and cotton lining. The overall condition is good, helmet plate and floral decoration has been polished and now shows some base metal colour. GC (£1,500 - £2,000) |

| 939     1st Lanarkshire Rifle Volunteer Corps Victorian Other Ranks helmet. A very good example of the light grey cloth Home Service Pattern helmet complete with blackened metal cross piece, spike and rose bosses. The bosses support an interlinked leather backed chinchain. To the front, a Crowned Maltese cross plate with lions between the arms; to the centre, a strung bugle within a circlet inscribed First Lanarkshire RVC. Retains leather sweatband. to the interior which also stamped LRVC VGC (£200 - £300) |
| 940     South Lancashire Regiment 2nd Volunteer Battalion Officers helmet A good pre 1901 example of an Officers Home Service Pattern blue cloth helmet, complete with silvered metal cross piece, spike and rose bosses supporting a velvet backed chin chain. To the front, a Victorian helmet plate to the centre the regimental device of the Sphinx. A title strap is embossed South Lancashire Regiment., also a separate scroll below 1st Volunteer Battalion. The interior with a leather sweatband with silk edging. Overall GC but with some age wear, evidence of two badges having been worn. Contained in its original metal storage tin with a brass engraved name plate Lt Col Robinson 2nd Lancashire R.V. | 941     1st Somerset Rifle Volunteers Senior NCOs helmet A good and rare example, which is of Officer quality. White metal cross piece, spike and rose bosses supporting a leather backed chin chain. To the front, an ORs style Victorian helmet plate to the centre the regimental device of strung bugle. A title strap is embossed 1st Somersetshire R.V., The interior with a leather sweatband with crimson silk edging. Overall Near VGC, leather sweatband cracked to one section. | 944     North Somerset Yeomanry Cavalry Troopers helmet. A scarce example of the 1847 (Albert) pattern worn by the regiment 1854-1901. Silvered skull decorated with gilt metal floral leaf design. Helmet plate comprises a wreath, half of laurel, half of oak within the wreath an ornate shield surmounted by a Crown. On the shield, an eight pointed silvered hobnail star mounted with a brass strap inscribed The North Somerset. Entwined VR cypher to centre. Rose head bosses support a brass chin chain with leather backing. The plume holder of leaf design supports a replacement scarlet flowing horsehair plume. Retains leather lining. Minor age and service wear, skull appears to have been lacquered at sometime. GC (£500 - £750) |

To the front the helmet plate comprises a wreath of laurels; within the wreath an ornate shield surmounted by a Crown. On the shield, an eight pointed silvered hobnail star mounted with a brass strap inscribed Shropshire Yeomanry Cavalry. Three leopards regimental device to the centre. Rose head bosses support a gilt chin chain with velvet backing. The plume holder of leaf design supports a red & white flowing horsehair plume with a rose head boss. | 946     Boer War Period Devonshire Yeomanry Officers Slouch Hat. An unusual example, possibly regimental pattern, of a khaki cloth and is intended to be worn with the brim folded up or down. The back of the hat with a scarlet lace and press stud arrangement. The welt of the crown with scarlet piping and to the front a gilt wire boss. The interior with a wax cotton lining bearing an Exeter tailors label. Complete with scarlet cap lines. Some stitching faults and service wear. GC (£200 - £300) The vendor has attributed this to the 1st Devon Yeomanry. |

Bramwell Jones 4th Welsh Regiment Little age wear, GC (£40 - £60) Lt Col W. Bramwell was appointed Major in Aug 1912 and Lt Col in 1916. He retired in 1920. |

| 953     Royal Artillery Officers helmet circa 1901-14. An example of an Officer's Home Service Pattern blue cloth helmet complete with gilt metal cross piece, ball top and rose bosses supporting a velvet backed chin chain. To the front, a gilt metal Royal Arms device. Leather sweatband, with cream net edging. Ink label Douglas RGA. The helmet retains a good shape, but with some age and service wear. Neck peak edging worn away in places. (£200 - £300) Major James George Douglas TD was at one time serving in Gibraltar as Honorary Consul for Norway. In 1952 he was awarded the Order of St Olav. |
| 954     77th (W. Middlesex) Regiment Officers quilted shako 1861-69. A scarce example by Besch & Co. 10 & 11 Hanover St., Hanover Square, London. The body and crown of lightly quilted dark blue cloth, the peak of black patent leather. To the front, a rich fire-gilt crowned star plate bearing Garter, the centre pierced with 77; blackened lions mask to rear of the shako. Ornamental patent leather strap around the lower edge of the body with buckle to reverse. The interior retains crimson silk lining and soft leather sweatband topped with crimson silk. Chin strap and detachable ball tuft absent. The shako retains a good shape but with rather heavy moth damage around the body just beneath the crown. (£250 - £350) |
| 955     WW2 Period EKCO Fire Brigade Civil Defence Helmet. This Tommy pattern steel helmet has a brown painted finish to the shell. To the front a red transfer of a flaming grenade, the ball bearing the initials EKCO and a scroll below Fire Brigade. Complete with lining and elasticated web chin strap. GC Now with rust spots to the shell, lining a little dry. (£50 - £75) E.K. Cole Ltd was the manufacturer of the Ecko radio and electrical equipment and a specialist in Radar equipment. During WW2 they were based at Cowbridge House in Wiltshire, were at its height it employed around 1,000 people undertaking essential war work. |
