936     Late 18th Century Continental Hunting Sword.
This example has 19 1/2 inch curved blade with a sawback edge. The blade is decorated with three small falling stars. The hilt with staghorn grip and flat Rommel this is embossed with cherubs. The single brass guard is embossed with floral decoration and the crossguard terminates with a flat quillon embossed with figures. Now with a dark patina, scabbard absent hilt slack. (£200 - £300)
937     Volunteer Baker Rifle Sword Bayonet and Scabbard.
A rare example with a 30 1/2 inch straight blade double edged at the point. The blade engraved with the number 226. The sword hilt with single knuckle guard with provision for the barrel. The grip retains it’s leather covering and twist wire binding. Housed in original all metal scabbard with frog button. The blade has been polished, both the hilt and scabbard are a matching dark patina. GC (£700 - £900)
938     Royal Artillery Officer’s sword.
A good clean regulation example, the blade etched with gun and flaming grenade device. The hilt with three bar open guard; shagreen grip with twist wire binding. Housed in its polished steel scabbard. Overall GC. (£100 - £120)
939     Royal Scots Fusiliers Officer’s Sword by Wilkinson.
The straight central fullered blade, number 59581, is etched with regimental title and device and with etched panel “Angus Macdonald 31st August 1922”. The hilt is fitted with the alternative cross guard, shagreen grip this with wire binding and retaining crimson tassel. Housed in polished brown leather field scabbard with plated chape. GC Clean condition. (£350 - £450)
940     Early 18th Century Royal Horse Guards Trooper’s Sword & Scabbard.
A rare and good example of the pattern of sword carried in the battle fields of Flanders in 1742. The straight blade with central wide fuller and narrow fuller to the back edge The blade is engraved with a crowned GR Cypher “Hartford” and “2/31”. The hilt with basket guard this of a square open panel design. The grip retains it’s shagreen covering with twist wire binding this with a Turks head knot design collars . Housed in original black leather scabbard with steel chape and top mount the latter with frog button. Overall Near VGC for the age leather to the scabbard remains supple. (£1,800 - £2,000)
This pattern of basket guard conforms to that carried by the Royal Horse Guards during the early 18th Century. The Earl of Hartford was considered one of the richest men in England. In 1715 he was appointed Colonel of the 2nd Troop of Horse Guards and in 1740 was appointed Colonel of the Royal Horse Guards, a position he would hold until 1750. In the year 1742 the regiment served in the War in Flanders and this pattern of sword would have been carried.
941     Mid 17th Century Continental Fighting Sword
A rare good example with 31 inch straight blade with a width of 2 1/4 inches at the forte. The blade bears a stamp of a crown above four crosses and to each of two shallow groves is the inscription IHN* Solingen above these are four small dots or half moons and the device of Imperial Orb. This is repeated to both sides. The hilt with an “S” shape crossguard and a clam shell guard protruding upwards. The grip is of turned wood and fitted with a thumb loop again in the shape of an upright clam shell. The grip terminating with a round pommel. Housed in a steel mounted leather scabbard. Blade is in clean condition, hilt and mounts to the scabbard with a dark patina, leather supple. GC (£1,800 - £2,000)
A very similar example is illustrated and described in the book “Cut and Thrust Weapons” by Edward Wagner. Description found on page 173.
942     18th Century Cavalry Officer’s Fighting Sword.
A scarce and unusual example. 32 inch curved single edged blade, with a wide fuller and a second narrower one close to the back edge. The blade is stamped with a Crowned beast holding a sword and arrows. The reverse of the blade is stamped with possibly Arabic scrip. The blade is fitted with a European style basket bar guard. Shagreen grip, with twist wire binding, terminating with a flat pommel, which runs down the back of the grip. Housed in a polished black leather scabbard, with steel chape and top mount, the latter fitted with a loose ring, frog button absent. Overall GC, blade clean hilt and scabbard mounts a matching dark patina. (£1,500 - £2,000)
943     1781 Derbyshire Militia Silver Hilted Hanger.
A rare example, attributed to Lieutenant John Cooper of the Derbyshire Militia. The slightly curved single edged blade with single fuller, is engraved with decoration. This depicting sun bursts and a Half Moon. The hilt with a London 1781 hallmarked single bar guard, cross guard , flat pommel and back strap. The ebony ribbed grip retaining some of the fine silver twist wire binding. The silver cross guard with hallmarks and maker’s stamp of “I.F” and is engraved “J.Cooper DM”. Scabbard is absent blade length is 27 inches, possible shortened. Over GC. (£250 - £300)
Lieutenant John Cooper was appointed to this rank August 1778. He does not appear in the 1804 Militia List.
944     1796 Light Cavalry Officer’s sword.
A good quality example with single edged curved blade bearing half length etched decoration of a laurel leaf floral decoration. The back of the blade bears the cutler’s detail Merry. Hilt of regulation pattern, with steel stirrup guard, with plain rounded langets. Shagreen covered grip, with silver twist wire binding. Housed in the original steel scabbard, Retaining two loose rings. Blade remains in very clean condition. Both hilt and scabbard with matching dark patina. GC. (£400 - £450)
945     Georgian Officer’s spadroon.
A good quality example, with a singled edged straight blade. This with engraved decoration of Trophy of Arms . The hilt with an oval shaped four panel ribbed white ivory grip. Steep single bar guard, with single droop quillon. The pommel is in the shape of a classical urn. Scabbard absent, now with an overall age patina. GC Blade length 32 1/2 inches. (£300 - £350)
946     Late 18th Century Naval slot hilted fighting sword with Scabbard.
A good example with plain curved single edged blade. The brass slot hilted guard, terminated with an urn shaped pommel, with engraved decoration depicting a fouled anchor. The twist grip is of polished wood. Accompanied by black polished leather scabbard, with double stitched seem and brass mounts. The latter with loose rings and the top mount is with frog button. Usual age wear, remains a good clean example. GC (£400 - £450)
This pattern of sword was in common use during the American war of Independence.
947     Late 18th Century slot hilted fighting sword with Scabbard.
A good quality example with plain double fullered curved single edged blade. The steel slot hilted guard, terminated with spiral turned ball shaped pommel The ivory grip is inset with copper twist inlay. Accompanied by brown polished leather scabbard, this decorated with blind tooled X panels down the length. Also with double stitched seem and brass chape and top mount. The latter with frog button. Usual age wear, remains a good clean example. GC (£450 - £500)

948     Huntingdon Militia brass hilted hanger.
A good example of the 1751 pattern. The single edged curved blade, is with fuller. The solid brass hilt is with three bar open guard, the grip is of a spiral design, with ball pommel. The shell guard is engraved M. Huntingdon 4/31. GC. Blade length 24. inches. (£300 - £320)
949     Georgian Royal Navy Midshipman’s fighting dirk.
This example with single edged, 12 inch curved plain blade. The hilt with an ivory chequered carved grip with gilt crossguard terminating with urn quillons. A lion’s head decorates the pommel, with it’s main running down the back of the grip. Complete with black leather scabbard this decorated with blind tooled Crown decoration. Mounted with gilt mounts, the middle and top mount with loose rings, the latter with the addition of a frog button. Overall GC. One crossguard bent. (£200 - £250)
950     1796 Pattern British Infantry Officer’s Sword
Double edged straight blade with central fuller and with engraved decoration depicting a trophy of Arms. Gilt brass double shell crossguard, with floral quillon (Cracked). The single knuckle guard leading to an urn pommel with floral design. Silver twist wire bound grip. Blade with age wear and rubbing Scabbard absent. (£100 - £150)

952     English Late 17th Century Plug Bayonet.
A rare example with a single edged straight blade, with false back edge point. The blade with a sword armorers mark. The hilt with a brass crossguard the quillons decorated with helmeted heads. Brass collar and pommel and with a turned polished wooden grip. Slight age wear, hilt a little loose. GC. (£400 - £500)
953     Victorian 19th Century Gothic Revival Knights Pillow Sword.
A good quality example, the straight double edged blade, with a slightly ground fuller, this with stylised lettering. The hilt with a cast brass crossguard with oval end quillons and an oval dome pommel. The grip with twist silvered wire binding. Remains in good clean condition. No scabbard. (£80 - £120)
954     Late 18th Century Silver Mounted German Hunting Sword.
A good quality example. The straight single edged blade with a large central fuller, half engraved to both sides with Germanic writing and a rampant stag. The forte with the cutler’s details. The silvered crossguard with line decoration and fitted with a chain knuckle guard leading to the pommel. The stag horn grip with three silvered oval escutcheons. Housed in original black leather scabbard with silver hallmarked mounts. The top mount constructed to hold a skinning knife (now absent). Overall GC Little age wear. (£500 - £600)
955     Early 19th Century Indian Tulwar.
The straight single edged blade is with three fullers and appears to have been converted from a Khandar blade. One piece steel hilt with pierced decoration to the disk pommel. GC. (£50 - £75)
956     Early 19th Century German Hunting Sword
A good quality example, the straight double edged blade with a double clip point and two large central fullers. The blade bears engraved decoration with shows traces of gilt inlay. The hilt with an ornately cast brass crossguard, this mounted with a shell a decorated with a stag overlay. The central cartouche to the crossguard is decorated with a double horn of plenty and to the quillons dog head masks can be found. The grip is of reeded ebonized timber terminating with a gilt pommel, this emblazoned with stylised floral decoration. Complete with a leather and gilt mounted scabbard, the mounts are once again with floral and cross hatched decoration. The top mounted with a Boars head frog button and containing a concealed single edged skinning knife. The overall condition is good, the leather to the scabbard is a good quality replacement, incorporating the original mounts. (£500 - £600)
957     Late 19th Century Indo-Persian Jambya.
This example with a slightly curved double edged blade with central ridge . The forte with gold kufgari work, incorporating Indian script. The polished bone grip with ear pommel and crossguard. Housed in original material covered wooden scabbard. GC Slight age wear. (£120 - £150)
958     Russian Late 18th Century Kinjar.
Straight double edged blade of typical form, with two central fullers, a false Damascus and a heavy armorers stamp. The polished ivory grip decorated with square headed rivets with blue stone decoration to the centres. Housed in original green velvet and leather covered wood scabbard. Silver chape and mounts, these with floral engravings and again with blue stone decoration. The rear of the scabbard retains single edged eating knife GC Slight age wear. (£200 - £300)
959     Arabic Mecca Jambya.
This example with a slightly curved double edged blade with central ridge. The horn grip with plain silver front and stamped central band and crossguard. Housed in original material covered wooden scabbard, with gold and silver wire floral decoration. GC. (£80 - £100)
960     18th Century Danish Navy Officer’s Sword.
A good and scarce example, the single edged curved blade with a wide fuller and with engraved decoration which incorporates the Royal Arms of Denmark and Norway introduced in 1767. The hilt with a fire gilt single bar guard which leads to a pommel embossed with a lion’s mask. Polished wood grip. Scabbard is now absent some age wear to the blade. GC. (£200 - £300)
961     1788 Heavy Cavalry Pattern Officer’s Sword.
A scarce example, possibly for dismounted duties in having a single edged curved blade. This with the cutler’s details of Runkin to the back edge. The blade is decorated with a mounted cavalry Officer. The hilt closely follows the 1788 pattern, with a slot hilted cross guard and S scroll bar basket guard, this enclosing an iron grip. Scabbard absent, overall dark patina, engraving faint to parts GC. (£300 - £400)
962     WW2 Period Japanese NCO’s / Officer’s Sword
A good example of the regulation pattern. The hilt with military pattern fittings and binding. Complete with polished brown leather field scabbard. The blade is in clean condition, but with one nick to the edge. GC. ... Accompanied by sword knot. (£200 - £300)
963     19th Century Masonic Sword.
This example with a straight doubled edged blade with etched decoration. The hilt is of an ornate gilt deasign, the straight cross guard embossed with symbols, including to the center a Skull and Cross Bones within a Triangle. The pommell is in the form of a crown. Complete with steel black painted scabbard, again with an ornaite gilt decorated chape and top mount. Near VGC, little age wear. (£100 - £200)
964     18th Century Continental Silver Mounted Hunting Sword.
A good quality example, with a single edged curved blade with a wide fuller and a narrower one to the back edge. The silver hallmarked hilt with crossguard leading to the single bar guard which is embossed the head and shoulders of a man with a crown abover. The flat round quillion is also embossed with the head and shoulders of a man to both sides. The slightley domed pomel is with stylized floral decoration and fitted with a stag horn grip. Complete with a black leather a silver mounted scabbard. GC Little age wear. (£500 - £600)
965     Mid 18th Century Japanese Wakizashi.
Circa 1750, this example with single edged blade with double habaki. The hilt with iron tsuba of moko form with gilt inlay depicting spring flowers and an insect. Shi-shi gilt copper menuki and gilt inlay to the Fuchi-Kashira. The shagreen grip now with a replacement white ito wrap. Housed in a black leather scabbard with ribbed decoration. Fitted with a replacement Kodzuka. GC. (£250 - £300)
966     Napoleonic Period British Military Flintlock Cavalry Pistol
A good personalised example. The plain smooth 16 bore barrel, with top line star decoration and front foresight. Retaining original under barrel swivel ram rod. The lock plate with stepped tang. Ringed neck cock and waterproof pan. The walnut full stocked woodwork has now been armoury chequered to the grip as a none slip feature in battle. With brass furniture comprising a single ramrod pipe, trigger guard and heavy butt cap. Steel now polished. GC. slight chip to wood behind lock plate. (£350 - £400)
967     Flintlock Pocket Pistol by Wilson circa 1800.
A good quality example, with a 50 bore 3 3/4 inch Damascus steel barrel with gold rear breech line. The stepped lock plate with half cock sliding safety and rear floral engraving. The cental panel engraved Wilson. Waterproof pan, frizzen with roller ball spring and swan neck cock with scroll engraving. Full stock woodwork with chequered grip and silvered escutcheon. Steel trigger guard with stand of Arms engraving and pineapple finial. Single steel ram rod pipe retaining original wood and horn ram rod. GC (£180 - £220)

A 54 bore turn off steel barrel, with proof marks. Brass back lock action with side panel scroll engraving. Steel dolphin head percussion hammer. Fitted with a finely chequered bag style grip with silver escutcheon. Steel trigger guard. GC (£70 - £100)

970     Winchester Model 1892 Rifle
A good .32 Winchester Model 1892 Rifle numbered 752768 with 24 inch round barrel, adjustable rear sight, underlever action and tubular barrel beneath barrel. Barrel is marked “MANUFACTURED BY THE WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO, NEW HAVEN, CONN, U.S.A.: PATENTED - OCTOBER 14, 1884” and “MODEL 1892: WINCHESTER: TRADE MARK REG. IN U.S.PAT. OFF.” on the upper frame tang. Overall patina of age. GC (£600 - £700)

971     Early 19th Century Military Style Flintlock Musket.
This example based on a French pattern musket was possibly made as a trade piece. The 12 bore barrel is a length of 42 inches and is retained to the woodwork by three steel bands. The flintlock action is signed Wilson. The full wood stock is fitted with steel trigger guard and butt cap. Complete with ram rod. Overall GC with some age wear evidence of old woodworm holes to the stock. (£250 - £300)
972     1862 36 Cal Police Colt Revolver.
A good example with 5 1/2 inch barrel. To the top is engraved the shortened address “address Saml Colt Hartford CT. “ Semi fluted cylinder stamped “Pat Sept 10 1850” and with rebated section to the rear. Nickel plated brass frame with one piece slab grips. To the butt are two small holes, thought to be for a wire frame stock. The revolver with matching serial number 1532 indicating a manufacture date of 1861. Overall GC with wear to the plating. ... The revolver is now housed in a modern well crafted wooden case with the following accoutrements: Copper American Eagle shot flask. ... Colt patent bullet mould for both conical and ball shot. 973     1857 Snider Cavalry Carbine MKII.
The lock plate bearing a Crowned VR cypher and signed Enfield 1857. The rolling block with Egyptian Army issue stamps. The 22 inch barrel, with a number of stampings. Some service wear, steel polished. (£180 - £220)
974     Zulu War Period Martini Henry 1874 issue rifle. 577/450
A scarce long leaver example with 32.5 inch barrel, complete with rear and fore sights, also bayonet bar on band. Quantity of clear stamps indicating WD issue 1874. The under lever is a length of 5 inches. Ram rod and one band absent Scrip stampings to the metal work. GC. (£250 - £300)
975     41st Native Infantry 1858 dated Snider three band Rifle
A good example with .577 inch barrel. The lock bearing stamps Enfield 1858. The rolling block is with issue stamps. The barrel bears a number of proof stamps etc. Ram rod now absent, complete with rear sight. The barrel retained with three steel bands. Full wooden stock. Brass trigger guard, end cap and butt plate, the latter with issue stamps “41st NI”. Retains original swing swivels. ill fitting lock. butt with repair to the wood. Some service and age wear. 976     1850 Period Percussion Belt Pistol by Sherwood.
Octagonal 16 Bore Damascus barrel with silver line breech decoration and a swivel steel ramrod. Back action percussion lock with foliage engraving and maker’s details of Sherwood. Dolphin style percussion hammer. Well figured full stocked woodwork with chequered grip, white metal escutcheon with owners crest and initials. Steel side belt hook, trigger guard and ram rod pipe. White metal lion head mask butt plate. GC. steel now with dark patina. (£250 - £300)
977     British No 4 MKI spike bayonet.
A rare example with cruciform blade and housed in original black steel scabbard. The bayonet is with clear stamps. GC. (£40 - £60)
Introduced 15th November 1939, it was soon superseded by the conventional spike blade in 1940
978     Martini Enfield 1887 MKIII pattern bayonet.
A good clean example with straight unfullered blade. This bears issue stamps for 1889 made by Wilkinson of London. The hilt with two piece leather grip. Housed in black leather and steel mounted scabbard. A little age wear GC. (£80 - £120)
979     Georgian Naval Midshipman’s Dirk.
This example with a straight 11 inch double edged blade with a central fuller. The hilt with a gilt straight cross guard and plane square tapering ivory grip. This mounted with gilt pommel. Scabbard absent. Blade now a dark patina, with some pitting towards the point, possibly slightly reduced in length. (£80 - £120)
980     Imperial German Trench Fighting Knife.
A good clean example, the double edged straight blade of this example is stamped “Gottlies Hammesfah Solingen” Two piece ribbed wooden grip, complete with metal scabbard, retaining leather belt loop. GC retaining 95% of paintwork to the scabbard. (£80 - £120)
981     Officer’s fighting dirk circa 1800.
A fine example with a 6.5 inch double edged blade. The S shaped quillon is of polished steel, which is repeated to the ball pommel. The grip is of a reeded ebony design. Housed in original polished brown leather scabbard with steel mounts. Steel with dark patina, blade remains with bright polish, near VGC. Overall length 13 inches (£120 - £150)

A double edged slightly curved blade with raised central rib. The hilt of typical form with gilt overlaid circular decoration and fitted with a white metal back panel, this with white metal domed rivets. Housed in tooled decorated leather scabbard. GC (£80 - £100)

985     Late 18th Century Indo Persian Jambiya.
A superb quality example with single edge Damascus steel, slightly curved blade with sharpened back point. Double large fuller and fleur de lis chiselled design T section back blade. Jade slab sided bird head pommel grips, with steel edging. Housed in leather covered wooden scabbard, with blind tooled decoration and a polished steel chape, again with fleur de lis decoration. 986     WWI Robbins of Dudley Punch Dagger.
A scarce example of the private purchase trench fighting knife. Flat blade with double fuller. The grip is of alloy with guard to the knuckle, the base stamped “Robbins Dudley”. Housed in original polished leather scabbard. GC Small areas of pitting to the blade. (£200 - £300)
