613     WW2 SOE Special Forces Silk Code Sheets.
A rare pair of silk code sheets, carried by SOE agents in occupied Europe, closely follow the design of the silk escape maps. The first sheet is a chart showing letter codes and true meanings ... The second larger sheet converts sentences in to a group of four letters. eg. “Blow up the target and everything of importance C.F.C.F”. Both sheets are now framed near VGC. (£300 - £500)
These two code sheets were given to WW2 Wren "Michael Grant" (Mrs. Gladys Grant) by Leo Marks, the SOE code breaker and later author of "Between Silk and Cyanide". Marks pioneered a unit specialising in identifying messages from SOE radio operators captured and “turned” by the Gestapo . Due to secrecy still surrounding many of the more sensitive areas of SOE, little ofGrant's wartime role can be found however she was a member of The Special Forces Club, her proposal being seconded by Prof. Michael Foot, decorated for his work with the French Resistance, author of several books on SOE and MI9.
614     Boer War Christmas 1900 chocolate tin and contents.
A good example of the gilt tin which was given to troops serving in South Africa during the Boer War Christmas 1900. This example is complete with its chocolate. Colours to tin remain bright and fresh. 95% of paintwork remaining. The tin is accompanied by a letter stating that is was given to a Sergeant G. Simpson, who had served as a military tailor at Ladysmith. (£150 - £200)

616     Victorian Berkshire Yeomanry Officer’s 1876 hallmarked silver pouch desk ornament.
This desk ornament box has been made from a silver pouch flap, mounted with the regimental device of a circlet “The Borough of Hungerford” within an oak wreath; five pointed star and crescent from the Seal of the Borough of Hungerford to centre; The flap with Birmingham silver hallmark for 1876. The flap is mounted onto a mahogany box. GC. (£100 - £150)

A fine quality silver plated pair of a fish slice and fork. Each with engraved decoration of an engraved Crowned Garter encircling a GR III Cypher and with the regimental title “Royal Bucks King’s Own Militia”. 624     Royal Navy Victorian Page Boys Midshipman’s pattern Dirk.
This dirk conforms to the regulation pattern. Steel blade (3/4 inch width) with fuller. The crossguard mounted cartouche of a pre 1901 RN device. Shagreen grip, with lion head pommel. Housed in black leather scabbard with brass mounts and two loose rings to the top mount. Some age wear, remains in good condition leather supple. Overall length 17 1/2 inches (£60 - £100)
625     Early 19th Century 41st Foot (Welch) Officer’s Regimental Mess Plate.
This dinner plate is of white stoneware with rich colourful floral decoration. This incorporating a regimental device of a Crowned blue strap encircling “XLI”, The reverse with maker’s transfer of a Royal Coat of Arms with Stone China below indicating the Hicks factory 1822-35. The colours remain bright, device slightly rubbed. The plate with three cracks. Diameter 10 3/4 inches. (£40 - £60)
626     Early 19th Century 70th Foot (Surrey) Officer’s Regimental Mess Plate.
This dinner plate is of white stoneware with rich colourful floral decoration. This incorporating a regimental device of a Crown above “70”, within a wreath and title “Surrey” above. The reverse with maker’s transfer of a Royal Coat of Arms with Stone China below indicating the Hicks factory 1822-35. The colours are now faded Diameter 9 1/4 inches. Good Condition, small chips to the reverse now effecting the front (£60 - £100)

A scarce example made by Spode and bearing the impressed stamp “New Stone”, this dating the manufacture of the plate circa 1805-1820. The obverse of the plate is decorated with a colourful floral design, to the centre and border. This pattern is highlighted with gold. The base is signed “HM 44th Regt” under the glaze and is also with the impressed maker’s mark. Colours bright, one hairline crack and chip to reverse not effecting appearance GC. (£80 - £120)

The black leather 2.25 inch belt retains the original chrome square buckle mounted with the union symbol of the circle and lightning flash. GC little wear. (£150 - £200)
634     BUF British Union of Fascists Issue Black shirt.
An extremely rare example of the regulation black shirt worn by the BUF. Black cotton material, of a very fine ribbed design. The stand collar is secured by two flat buttons and a further ten buttons can be found to the plastron front. The cuffs are tailored with a single button. Remains in near Very Good Condition. 643     BUF British Union of Fascists Bound Newspapers “The Fascist Week” No.1 through to No. 29
A rare run of the early official newspaper of the BUF. Starting with number 1 dated November 10th 1933 through to number 29 25th May 1934. These papers provide a wealth of research information, illustrations and adverts. Contained in the original black cloth binder, with gilt tooled “The Fascist Week” and also a Fascist device. The cover is with heavy damage through damp. Both the front and back are now with holes. This has stained issue 1 of the newspaper, with a few minor marks to issue 2. The remainder of the papers remain in good condition. with age wear and colouring expected for their age. The back of issue 29 with some staining. (£300 - £500)

649     BUF British Union of Fascists Important Printers Original Mock Up for “Action” Newspaper Number 1
This is one of the original printers Mock newspaper for the launch of the BUF Official Newspaper “Action”. Sixteen pages with small number of pages made up with articles and the rest left blank printed Advertising... Editorial. The paper is dated February 21st 1936 the launch and published date of Number 1. However the headline to this mock is “A Policy For Britain Energy Instead of Lethargy”. This is different to that, that finally appeared. Very Good Condition, a little age discolouring. (£250 - £300)
650     British Union of Fascists Party Record.
A rare two record set of the “Memorable” speech made on the 22nd April 1934 by Sir Oswald Mosley at the Royal Albert Hall. Each record is decorated with a picture of Mosley and the reverse is with a large picture of the BUF Union flag badge. Diameter 10 inches, minor age wear one record with a small area of damage to the edge. (£150 - £250)
651     1st Bn Rifle Brigade 1908 Middle Weight Boxing Trophy Belt.
Comprising a clasp: Oval silver backing plate (HM Birmingham 1908) Mounted with a Regimental badge. The backing plate is engraved “1st Battn Rifle Brigade Middleweight Championship 1908” The belt is in the form of a ribbon of Regimental colours. GC. Height of plate 85mm (£30 - £50)
652     1878 Artillery Volunteers silver presentation snuff box.
An attractive example by RM bearing Birmingham hallmarks for 1878. Rectangular with slightly Serpentine edges and deep engraved ornamentation. The lid engraved “Presented to Sergt major Jas. Wilson, 1st L.A.V. By Members of the 19th Battery and friends on his being promoted to the Staff. 25th Decr. 1878”. Generally VGC (approx. 2 1/2 x 1 3/4 inches) (£150 - £200)
653     Souvenir of the Aircraft Carrier HMS Formidable
An unusual souvenir in the form of a gold plated ships rivet. This is contained in a polished mahogany presentation box with engraved brass plaque “The Golden Rivet Presented to Cmdr H. Pearson DSC RNR Salvaged from HMS Formidable 1946” Near VGC ... Accompanied by an early post WW2 1950’s period Royal Navy Commanders cap, by Moss Bros, King’s Crown bullion badge and plastic white top ... A boxed Zippo lighter with the ships crest of HMS Broadsword. VGC (3 items) (£50 - £75)
Aircraft Carrier HMS Formidable saw considerable service during WW2 in all theatres of operations, it was Swordfish Torpedo bombers from her deck, that crippled the German Battleship Bismarck and whilst in the Pacific suffered to the Japanese Kamikaze pilots
654     Boer War period carved pipe.
A good example made by LLD, the plated ring between bowl and stem with thistle logo and “Made in France”. The wooden bowl carved by a soldier serving in South Africa with ZAR Arms resting in scroll “Eendragt Maakt Magt”. One side of the arms with “Z” shaped scroll “Boer War”, the other side another “1899 1900-1”. Generally VGC. (£50 - £100)
655     WW1 Red Cross Zeppelin Interest.
A piece of Zeppelin wire sold on behalf of the Red Cross recovered from the first Zeppelin bought down at Cuffley Essex. September 3rd 1916. Complete with original backing card. This example of wire has been made into a bar brooch, but the hook is now absent. (£30 - £60)

A rare example. Order of St. Patrick Star embroidered in silver bullion and coloured silks onto a drape of blue and red cloth of the Guards Division, these colours are repeated to the tassels. The reverse with a Boosey & Hawkes, London, Makers label. GC colours bright. (£100 - £150)

660     WW2 Home Front Air Raid Shelter Brass Stencil Sign.
A rare example of an official brass cut away stencil, which would have been used to paint instructions to the entrance of Air Raid Shelters. The text reads “Defence Regulations 1939. This is a public shelter for use only after an Air Raid warning has been given and until the All Clear signal is given or if no warning is given. During an actual Air Raid or Bombardment. It holds ... Persons. Any persons misusing or damaging the shelter is liable to prosecution”. Unused condition GC. Size (£75 - £100)

Contained in a brass bound polished mahogany box, with velvet lining. Contains various instruments in fitted compartments. Including Bone saw with ebonised chequered handle, scalpels, hammer etc Maker’s details of “Evans & Co of London”. One scalpel and another instrument absent.
