| 613     Royal Scots Greys 1820s Officers Mess silver and plate asparagus dish. An attractive silver on copper rectangular example with reeded rim and floreated corners. Either end with barrel handles and lidded spouts for hot water; the bas stamped with eight crossed arrows device. The detachable hinged lid with raised central oval bearing ornate handle, one side finely engraved with crowned oval strap Royal Scots Greys with Order of the Thistle Star to centre. Internal fitted silver tray by Robert Hennel bearing 1828 hallmarks. Scratches to internal tray otherwise generally VGC. (approx. 10 x 7 1/2 inches and 1 1/4 deep excluding lid. Overall height 3 inches) (£200 - £300) Royal Scots Greys fought at the Battle of Waterloo; their famous charge depicted in Scotland Forever by Lady Butler. During the Battle Sgt Charles Ewart captured the French standard of the 45th Veteran Regiment of the Line and thus the eagle was borne by the Regiment to commemorate this gallant act. |
| 614     Gurkha Rifles presentation kukri. An attractive 12 inch example, the blade lightly decorated. Brown polished horn grip with two silvered bands and lions mask aluminium pommel. Housed in its crimson velvet covered scabbard mounted with large ornate green foil backed filigree chape and top band which almost cover the entire surface. The centre section with small applied badges of 1st and 4th Gurkha Rifles. Chain top and bottom, the lower one with rectangular plaque engraved Presented to Major M.H. Kelleher by Colonel B.B. The body with a green painted ground and emblazoned with a Regimental device and title, with Battle Honours of the Regiment the last being Burma 194244. | 629     Bournemouth WW2 Elkes Biscuits ARP Gas Mask Tin and Unusual Civilian Gas Mask. A good clean example of the biscuit tin that when empty could be used for carrying the civilian gas mask. The red coloured tin decorated with black text that gives instructions for the care of your gas mask etc. Contained within the tin is a unusual Civilian pattern gas mask, fitted with a flapper to the front. | 634     44th (East Essex) Regiment Georgian Officers Mess soup plate and dinner plate A scarce example made by Spode and bearing the impressed stamp New Stone, this dating the manufacture of the plate circa 1805-1820. The obverse of the plate is decorated with a colourful floral design, to the centre and border. This pattern is highlighted with gold. The reverse impressed makers mark. Colours bright, GC ... | 640     Boer War Christmas 1900 chocolate tin and contents. A good example of the gilt tin which was given to troops serving in South Africa during the Boer War Christmas 1900. This example is complete with its chocolate. Colours to tin remain bright and fresh. 95% of paintwork remaining. The tin is accompanied by a letter stating that is was given to a Sergeant G. | 642     Boer War Gentleman in kharki bronze figure. A well detailed bronze which was retailed through Mappin and Webb of London depicts the defiant gentleman in kharki standing his famous pose clutching his rifle with bayonet fixed. His head is bandaged and his sun helmet rests upon the ground behind him. The base bears the subject title and makers details. Generally GC with good patina, Sling with old break near sling buckle.
