| 799     16th Queens Lancers Edwardian Officers lance cap. A fine, scarce example of an Edwardian Officer's lance cap. The skull of black patent leather with the upper portion of black melton cloth, with gold gimp cord across the top and down the angles. To the left side is a gold bullion rosette with embroidered Royal Cypher onto a scarlet velvet ground. This supports a plume cup (OR pattern) and the black stitched swan feather plume. The gilt lance cap plate is mounted with silvered Royal Arms, battle honours and title scroll. Patent leather peak with gold bullion lines. Two gilt metal lion head bosss support chin chain with velvet backing. Leather sweat band to the interior. The lance cap is in very good external condition, gilt remains bright and fresh. Please note that the silk lining is now absent and the plume is of the correct pattern, but a modern replacement ... Accompanied by bullion cap lines and a correct pattern metal storage tin. | 800     1871 Dragoons Troopers helmet. A good 1871 example. Silvered skull surmounted by a gilt metal crosspiece and plume socket supporting a scarlet horsehair plume with brass rose boss. Skull ornamented with a laurel wreath and an oak leaf band rising from the edge of the neck piece and terminating under the crosspiece at the top. Brass rose pattern ear bosses support the 1 inch wide, leather backed, chinchain. Now fitted with a replacement leather sweatband. Overall GC. Helmet plate absent GC (£200 - £300) |

(toned to silver colour) To the oak leaf and acorn lace cap badge is a silvered and gilt Regimental badge. Fire gilt helmet plate overlaid with silver cut star with VR cypher encircled by strap Prince of Wales Dragn Guards to centre. Helmet and plume holder of fire gilt with a black over scarlet horsehair plume. Two gilt rose bosses support gilt chin chain with velvet backing. | 804     PWV South Lancashire Regiment Officers field service cap. A scarce example. The body, curtain and peak of dark blue melton cloth; the crown in buff. The curtain is secured at the front with two gilt mounted buttons bearing silver Prince of Waless plumes over gilt PWV cypher. To the left side of the body, bullion embroidered Prince of Waless plumes badge. The welt of the crown and top of the peak ornamented with gold braid. The interior with silk lining. Gilt metal simulated cord boss with regimental button to centre supports a black and white horsehair plume, mounted in gilt metal plume holder. Complete with leather lined brass chinchain; the interior with leather and waxed cotton lining, also with a clear WD 1910 stamp ... | 806     Hampshire Yeomanry 1871 pattern Troopers helmet. A good example with nickel skull mounted with acanthus leaf decoration above the front peak. To the front, an eight pointed backing star mounted with a Crowned oval brass strap inscribed Hampshire Yeomanry; to the centre, a brass rose on a black patent leather ground. Two rose head bosses support the leather backed chin chain. The crown bears a plain fluted spike that supports the white horsehair plume with gilt metal rose head boss. To the front a helmet plate of Regimental pattern, surmounted with a Victorian Crown and with a brass Regimental title strap Yorkshire Dragoons YC To the crown a silvered spike supports a white horsehair plume with silvered rose boss and two further rose head bosses support a velvet backed chin chain. | 815     VB Royal Welsh Fusiliers Senior NCOs glengarry circa 1883-96. A very fine and scarce example possibly that of the RSM, of dark blue woollen cloth with matching toori. Silk binding with applied red tape, fine silk tails. To the left side, on a silk rosette, a large white metal flaming grenade, the domed ball bearing Prince of Wales plumes with crown on the base of the flames. Waxed cotton lining bears white Royal Arms, Warranted Indigo Dye and Glengarry. A rare Victorian example of the Home Service Pattern green cloth helmet by Hawkes & Co of London complete with silvered metal cross piece, spike and rose bosses supporting a velvet backed gimp chin chain. To the front, a silvered eight pointed star, the topmost point displaced by a Victorian Crown. Mounted on the star, a laurel wreath enclosing the Garter; within the Garter, in silver, Regimental device. To the base of the wreath, an applied silver scroll inscribed The Royal West Kent Regiment. and a second scroll 1st Volunteer Battalion. Retains leather sweatband with crimson silk edging. | 821     Royal Irish Regiment 1878 pattern Victorian Officers helmet. A good Victorian example of the Home Service Pattern blue cloth helmet by Caters of London. Complete with gilt metal cross piece, spike and rose bosses supporting a velvet backed chin chain. To the front, a gilt metal eight pointed star, the topmost point displaced by a Victorian Crown. Mounted on the star, a laurel wreath enclosing the Garter; within the Garter, in silver, a Crowned Harp within a shamrock wreath set on a red cloth ground. To the base of the wreath, an applied silver scroll inscribed The Royal Irish. The interior with leather sweatband, with white silk edging. Also with tailors paper label and order label with ink R. Irish R. The helmet remains in good condition and shape. Evidence of another helmet plate having been worn, but all gilt furniture and badge are a good matching colour (£400 - £600) |
| 822     4th Bn Highland Light Infantry NCOs shako. A good post 1902 example, believed to have been worn by an NCO of the 4th Militia Bn of the HLI. Dark blue cloth body with diced bands red-white-red and red-green-red. To the front, a post 1902 shako badge, of white metal, with brass highlights to the crown, initials within the curled bugle and Elephant Assay Battle Honour. The cord boss mounted with white metal thistle device. Complete with plaited black mohair cord festoon across the front terminating in black egg moulds. Black patent leather peak and chin strap. The interior with leather sweatband and original J.A Cobson paper label. Lining stamped with WD and Broad Arrow as well as 4 years. Overall GC little age wear. Ball tuft absent ... | 823     Montgomeryshire Yeomanry Troopers helmet. An example, of the 1871 pattern helmet. Nickel skull mounted with an eight pointed backing star; the strap inscribed Montgomeryshire Yeomanry Cavalry; and a Welsh dragon to centre. Two rose head pattern bosses support the interlinked chin chain, with leather backing. The crown bears a spike that supports the white horsehair plume. The interior retains leather lining. The overall condition is good with no dents to the skull. However the helmet appears to have been lacquered which is now shows signs of dulling. (£400 - £600) This pattern was introduced to the regiment in 1882, the white horsehair plume followed 1896. |

Tailors label for Gieve Mathews & Seagrove Ltd London ... Accompanied by full dress bullion epaulettes with silver bullion foul anchor, star and Crown indicating the rank of Captain and Commodore ... | 842     Scottish. Fife Light Horse Victorian Troopers helmet. A fine example of the 1871 pattern silvered helmet. To the front, a regimental pattern helmet plate bearing the Thane of Fife on horseback wearing full armour set against a gilt brass ribbed satire. This in turn mounted onto a four pointed silvered star, the uppermost displaced by a crown. A tri part scroll is with motto and to the centre FLH in gilt metal. Two rose head bosses support a silvered interlinked chin chain, with leather backing. A silvered spike supports a white horsehair plume, with silvered rose boss. The interior is with leather lining Near VGC. (£500 - £600) This pattern of helmet was approved by the regiment in 1896 |

A good and extremely rare black cloth example, the curtain secured at the from with two silver buttons mounted with Star of the Most Illustrious Order of St. Patrick in enamels. To the left side, a gilt flaming grenade, the ball mounted with the Star of the Most Illustrious Order of St. Patrick in enamels. Black Morocco leather lined (some old damp staining), provision for chinstrap (not present). One or two spots of moth beneath curtain, generally GC. (£150 - £250) Tyrone Militia raised at Caledon in 1783, redesignated Royal in 1793, redesignated Royal Tyrone Fusiliers in 1855. Became 5th Bn. of Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers 1st July 1881, in May 1882 renumbered 4th. The Royal Tyrone Militia have the distinction of being the first regiment to mount guard on Dublin Castle carrying the Union flag. |
| 845     Crimea War Russian helmet captured at the Redan September 1855. A rare example of the Regulation pattern Imperial Russian helmet worn by soldiers of line Regiments throughout the war. Black polished leather skull and peaks, the crown surmounted by a brass cruciform base, supporting a globe spike. To the front a helmet plate of an Imperial Eagle, with shield to the breast bearing St George and the dragon, below this numerals 26 indicating the Regiment (Mogilev Infantry Regiment). The interior retains leather sweatband and white wool cloth edging. The helmet is in untouched condition, slight damage to the front peak. GC. Brass bosses and chin scales absent. The helmet retains an old important hand written label stating Russian Imperial Guards helmet taken at the Redan on the 9th September 1855. Name of the soldier on the leather card inside. The 26th were engaged at ? 185?. The reverse with the text Presented to Sir John Stuart for his ? of ? as a small token of respect and esteem from one who shared for a period the danger hardships of the Crimea The leather name tag remains present and attached to the label.
