It contains a great wealth of information, paper cuttings, photograph of soldiers and artifacts, original letters, original watercolours and sketches, extracts from Army Lists and rolls, an 1856 parchment discharge certificate as well as some original high quality artwork by B.T.A. A very good quality album compiled by a member of 55 Squadron during service in Iraq 1926 to 1929. A large selection of the photographs are 10 x 8 printed on Air Ministry paper plus a number of small shots. Aircraft shown include DH9, Bristol Fighters, Vickers Vernon plus other RAF Transport and a number of civilian and foreign national aircraft including Pioneer Aviation flights. 764     Palestine Police. A Selection of graphic photographs Jerusleum 1945-48
This is a graphic selection of snap shot photographs (many annotated on reverse), possibly taken by a member of the Palestine Police. They show street scenes of bomb damage (including the King David Hotel, Jersusalem Railway Station and District Police HQ), many taken shortly afterwards the streets littered with bodies. Other shots again show bodies (including a Police constable with the collar number 83 and two men lyinched from trees), a Jewish armoured vehicle used in the attack on Jaffa Gate. 769     Oil Painting of Colonel Sir Robert Tolver Bt Lancashire Hussars By Henry Barraud.
This painting depicts the Colonel Circa 1861, full length standing beside his Charger, He is seen wearing levee dress, Hussar Eton style jacket with dark blue overalls with gold lace line. To his head he wears a tall fur busby, with scarlet and white plume. His charger supports a regimental pattern shabraque and leopard skin. Signed H Barraud 1861. Mounted into a carved wood, gilt frame. Detail and colours good GC. Size of canvas 27 x 35 inches. (£3,000 - £5,000)
Henry Barraud.(1811-1874) was a distinguished portraitist and a sporting artist. He excelled in painting equestrian portraits and more general scenes, He shared a studio with his older brother William Barraud, from 1835 and the two collaborated on a number of commissions. His work was regularly exhibited at the Royal Academy.
770     Civil Service Volunteer Rifle Corps 19th century print.
A fine quality coloured print drawn by H. Fleuss depicting to the centre William Coutts Viscount Bury MP Lieutenant Colonel Commandant of the Civil Service V.R.C. He is shown in a woodland scene wearing dark grey tunic with, patent leather pouch belt and he sports a shako. Beside him stands a bugler at the ready, behind him, his Company await orders and in the background his charger wrestles with it’s handler awaiting his master’s return. The print is now in a coloured wash mount. Little damage to the title mount. Print size 11 x 151/2 inches. (£30 - £60)
771     Early 20th Century Watercolour of an Imperial Russian Hussar By Georges Scott.
This watercolour signed to the lower right corner with a dedication is dated 1903. It depicts a Hussar upon his horse. He wears a scarlet tunic with five yellow cord loops to each breast. Upon his head he wears a Brodrick style cap again in red material. In the background can be seen huts indicating the study in a Barracks. Colour and detail is good. Now mounted into a glazed giltwood frame. GC Size 13 x 16 1/2 inches (£300 - £600)

This dramatic watercolour depicts the Regiment in line charging forward at speed, swords drawn, white horsehair plumes flowing from the Dragoon pattern helmets. 775     Set of Four late 18th Century Coloured Engravings, of the Austrian Army.
These engravings, depicts acts of gallantry by men of the Austrian Army. Each is complemented with a narrative. Scenes include dramatic sword battles, where an NCO fights to protect his wounded Officer etc. Each is now framed and glazed. Frame size 19 x 22 inches. (£60 - £100)
776     1814 Oxfordshire Militia Officer’s Miniature Portrait.
A rare attributed example believed to Lieutenant William Brown. The oval miniature depicts head and shoulders, Lt Brown is wearing a scarlet coatee with a single bullion epaulette to the right shoulder. A white baldric is mounted with a square shoulder belt plate, bearing the title “Oxford”. Mounted into a gilt metal slip and ebonised square frame. The reverse bears an old label stating “W.Brown Lieut in the Oxfordshire Militia Taken onboard a prisoner of war ship June 1814 age 21”. Colour and detail remains good little age wear. (£300 - £400)
Lieutenant William Brown was appointed a Lieutenant in the Oxfordshire Militia on the 1st April 1814, he is still shown as serving with the Militia as a Lieutenant in 1825.
